When Should You Compromise in Buying a Home

Compromises when buying a home often lead to happier outcomes

People all want different things, but one of the best things about society is giving a little to get a little. Politics is full of great compromises that have changed the world, and anyone who has been in a long-term relationship knows you can never get only what you want(despite what the other says!).

Buying a home, like most other things in life, is about making compromises, and there are certain times when you should compromise in buying a home. I know that you probably have a long list of must haves for your dream home, but these few things should be a bit flexible if you’re looking to get the best deal.

Location. Location. Location.

That’s what they say in real estate. It’s all about where you’re located. Truth is it’s really difficult to find a great location and a great price, or a great location and a ton of space. A lot of young couples want to be close to all of the fun stuff, but also have a big yard, a dog, and a garage. That’s not easy. If you want more space, consider living further out of town. If you want a shorter distance to be in the thick of things, you’ll have to downsize. Lucky for you, Bradenton and the surrounding area is brimming with great neighborhoods and things to do.

All the extras

Living in a mansion with a built-in jacuzzi, two-car garage, above-ground pool and all of the hyphenated luxuries sounds great, but finding a home with everything that you want is going to really narrow your range. Be prepared to sacrifice a few of the things of your dreams in order to get a great deal.

Luxuries could also mean things like a big backyard. Like what I said in location, a big yard is going to be hard to find. Bringing down your expectations about the yard size means you have more inventory to choose from. Bradenton, Florida has a ton of space, but finding the perfect fit is a bit of work.

Style

There are a ton of styles to choose from in Bradenton and the surround area, but sticking yourself to just one style is a recipe for disappointment. Compromising when buying a home often comes down to making a few sacrifices on the way your home looks. This could mean anything from the architectural style to the look of the furniture and kitchen. You could always change things up once you buy it, anyway.

When it comes time to buy a house most people think of their dream home and write down a list of things it has to have. While that’s a good start, it’s important to know that making compromises is what helps everyone get a little bit of what they want. You want to find a dream home, and I, as a realtor, want to do my job the best I can, so there are some times when you should make compromises in buying a home. It’ll help you find a realistic dream house.
